House of Mercy is a dedicated supporter of 12 Baskets Café financially and through volunteering efforts. As a program of Asheville Poverty Initiative, 12 Baskets Café has been a welcoming community space for over a decade, fostering connection and advocating for economic justice. Prioritizing inclusivity, dignity, and abundance, the café and its Realities of Poverty Education program address hunger, housing, and poverty by empowering those most impacted. Operating as a by-donation café with 100% rescued food, it’s not just about meals—it’s about building community.

Open for lunch every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Every Sunday, we join our friends at WCCW for worship, extending our support beyond prison walls. For those granted a pass to attend, we provide transportation, fostering transformative experiences for all involved. We work through a program called Ministry of Hope. Our support continues after release, offering transportation to work and appointments, along with clothing and other resources. Though resources may be limited, we remain committed to meeting their needs. We believe that by uplifting those at the "bottom," our entire community rises together.

We are thrilled to partner with this very important organization that is doing beautiful, healing work in Asheville. Sunrise is a non-profit staffed entirely by Certified Peer Support Specialists who have managed and overcome substance use and mental wellness challenges. They provide free services focused on harm reduction for ALL that includes resource navigation, education, and authentic peer support to individuals struggling with trauma that often leads to houselessness, substance abuse, mental health issues and/or justice involvement.
